Wyburd’s Dramatic Company’s performance of “ Our Dad,” at the Theatre Royal, on Saturday night, was the best the company has yet given in Wellington, and one of the best of a comedy that has been seen on the local stage. Every part was well filled, and to say that the audience laughed continuously throughout the piece would be to inadequately describe the favor with which the performance was received. Mr J. L. Hall fairly excelled himself as Samuel Tottles, and in the banquet scene kept the audience shrieking with laughter. Certainly he has not been seen to such advantage at any other time during the season. Mr Carey's Joe Bungs was a very clever performance, and the other characters were without exception capitally played. The whole of the actors and actresses received a call at the elesa of the second act. At the conclusion of the comedy, Mr Alfred Wyburd, the champion Bkater, gave an “ exhibition act.” Mr Wyburd is as agile and graceful as ever, and his “ act ” was a treat in itcelf. The Wyburd’s Dramatic Company have occupied the Theatre Royal during the week, and have given a variety of entertainmen‘s. The laughable and interesting comedies, “Our Girls,’’ “Dad,” aid ‘’Jeames ” have been presented to an appreciative public. To-morrow night closes their season in Wei ington. Mr Wybert Reeve, who has made himself a thorough favorite with Wellington playgoer?, wi 1 begin a season at the Theatre Royal next Monday evening. He will be supported by a company which is Baid to be of unusual strength.
