THE GREAT BARRIER MURDER.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, September 29.
The Superintendent of Police has received a telegram stating that the cutter Sovereign of the Seas has been wrecked near Port Macquarie, New South Wales. The wreckage, which was found there on the 25th inst, includes a board with the name of the cutter painted on it. It will be remembered that the Sovereign of the Seas was the cutter in which the Great Barrier murderers made their escape in June last. Over a month ago a strange cutter was sighted near Port Macquarie, and subsequently it was reported that Caffrey, one of the murderers, bad been seen in Victoria.
