S.S. IONIC.
(united press association.) Dunedin, August 4 The lonic arrived at Port Chalmers at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. Her staff of officers Is slightly changed since her last visit. Mr J. Pascoe is now chief officer, Mr H. Lindsay, second, Mr H. D. Jay, third, Mr Innes fourth. Dr W. Linney is the surgeon, and Mr G. Harsburg purser. She brings ! 154 passengers. Of these ten are saloon, 17 second cabin, and 127 steerage. The cargo consists of 2089 tons, of which BCO tons are for Dunedin. The passage, which has bsen a moet agreeable one, has occupied in the gross a total of 44 days 12 hours aud 13 minutes, and in meau Bteaming time 42 days 17 hours and 58 minutes. She left the Royal Albert Docks at Woolwich at 1.5 p.m. on 17th June. Kad light wiuds with fairweather down the Channel, arrived at Plymouth at 10 23 p.m. of 18th June. Left again at 1.17 p.m. on the 19th. Light northerly winds and fine weather prevailed across the Bay of Biscay. Reached Teneriffe a r . 2 30 a.m. 24tli June. Left at 10.12 am. of that day. The Equator was crossed in long 10 \V on 30th June, and from lat 9 N. until her arrival in Table Bay. She had moderate to fresh southerly winds and fair weather. Reached Capetown at 9.25 a.m. of 10th July, and left at 3.5 p.m. same day. The { first part of the passage was marked by strongwinds from south to south-west, and the second part by light southerly winds and---heavy northerly swell. Arrived at Hobart 9.50 p m. on 29th Ju'y, aud left at 0.12 p m. next day. Passed the Bluff at 3.9 p.m. on. the 2nd instant, and arrived as aboveThe following are the passengers by the lonic for Wellington—Saloon—Mrs Wilson, Mr and: Mrs Parker and family (3), Mr Klmiall; Second saloon —Mr and Mrs Gardner and family (4), Messrs Norbury, Locken, Wheeler, Hayward, Sparks, Hamilton, Miss Hamilton ; Third-class—Messrs Burnett, Sheet an, Heathcote, Hamilton, Pursey, Peiro, Weiuger (2), Scales, Gillingham, Timmins, Mr and Mrs Grantham, Mr and Mrs Barker and family (3). .
