A poor woman in an English town has been sentenced to twelve months in gaol with bard labor for stealing fonrpence worth of turnips. Going on the stage is truly a venturesome task if one may judge by the sale of the veteran tragedian’s (Willjam Hoskins) theatrical wardrobe, which only realised £33 for seventeen complete costumes. This after a career of fifty years on the stage. It is a true saying that actors and singers never know the value of money till they are in need of it.
