Sydney, July 23. Sir John Robertson is suffering from a severe attack of illness. The Government have under consideration a proposal to hold an International Exhibition to celebrate the centenary of the foundation of the Colony. The Union Company’s s.s. Wakatipu, from Wellington, arrived this evening, and the same Company’s s.s. Wnirarapa sailed for Auckland this afternoon.
New Zealand wheat is quoted at 43 Id per bushel; New Zealand oats, 2s 6d ; maize per 561 b, 3s 4d ; sugar, unchanged. Adelaide, July 24. Wheat is quoted at 4s lOd to ss. Flour—Town brands, Lll; country, LlO 15s.
Albany, July 26. The P. and O. Company’s R.M.S. Clyde, with English mails to 25 bh June, arrived in King George’s Sound last evening. Sydney, July 27. The master (Taylor) of the ketch Champion has been committed for trial on a charge of defrauding the National Insurance Company of New Zealand.
Sailed, this evening Steamship Wakatipu, for Wellington. Melbourne, July 27. A general rainfall has been experienced throughout the colonies. The manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of. New Zealand (Limited), reviewing the local market reports: Shipping wheat, firm, at 5s 3d to 5s 4d per bushel ;
malting barley, slow of sale, 3s 9d to 4s 3d per bushel; New Zealand oats, feed sorts, 3s to 3s 5d per bushel; milling descriptions, 3s 5d to 3s 6d ; New Zealand oats, under bond, 2s 6d to 2s 7d per bushel.

Melbourne, July 20. The Railway Commisrioners have prepared plans for continuous communication between the Spencer-street and Flinders street stations by means of a viaduct, which will allow the ordinary traffic te pass underneath. - - ...
The annual report of the Postal Department states that the sixpenny telegrams have entailed considerable loss of revenue. It is not intended to adopt the penny postal system. The employes of clothing factories are strongly protesting against the proposal co place a duty of eighteenpenoe per pound weight on imported woollen goods, on the ground that it will destroy the clothing trade. The application of Mr Frank Hebden, of Christchurch, for a patent for an improvement iu telephones, was refused, on the ground that it is identical with others already known.
Adelaide, July 20.
Intelligence from the various country districts testifies to the great benefits of the rainfall, which extended from Farina to Adelaide. The fall, however, was only light, and more is wanted.
There is not much further news from Kimberley. The explorer, O’Donnell, has returned to Wyndham, and reports that the diggers are doing well, but some teams were stuck up and rifled on the road to the diggings.
