At a meeting at the Carlton Club the Marquis of Salisbury confirmed the statement already telegraphed that the Marquis of Hartington had promised his support to the measures to be introduced by the Conservatives for dealing with the Irish difficulty, and Lord Salisbury expressed the hope that these would result in a lasting settlement of affairs in Ireland. A meeting of the Conservative party has been held, at which it was resolved to proceed immediately with. Supply when Parliament resumes, and after that had been obtained to adjourn until January next. It is reported that the Eight Hon F. A. Stanley, who was Secretary of State for the Colonies in the last Conservative Administration, will again take that portfolio on the formation of the new Ministry. London, June 28.
