THE NATIVE RESERVES BILL.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Greymouth, July 21.
A largely attended pfiblic meeting was held in the Town Hall to-night to protest against the Native Reserves Bill. A series of resolutions were passed to the following effect : 1. That the Bill is prejudicial to the interests of the great majority, wsil stop the growth of the town, and is opposed to the recommendations of the Royal Commission and Mr Bunny. 2. That it is entirely opposed to the Native Reserve Act, 1883. 3. That the West Coast members and Mr Bryce be requested to oppose the Bill; and that Mr Bryce be thanked for his services in connection with the Act of 1883. 4. That the resolutions be telegraphed to the Premier, and Government be requested withdraw the Bill, and draft a Bill on .the recommendations of the Royal Commission. It was also resolved to send a deputation to Wellington to wait on the Ministry.
