LAND BOARD.
At the usual fortnightly meeting of the Land Board, hell in the Crown Lands Office yesterday morning, there were present —Messrs J. W. A. Marchaut (in the chair), H. Bunny, G. Beetham, M.H.R., W. A. Fitzberbert, W. W. McCardle, A. Reeae. The schedule of lauds showed that 668 acres 1 rood 27 perches had been sold at an upset price of £lB5 14s. Mr R. dcandlyn, selector of sections 62 and 63, Hunterville, applied to transfer the same to P. Klein. Approved. Messrs T 3. Hall, selectors of section 1609, BlocklX., Kaiwaaga. and W. Wilson, selector of section 41, Block X., Mangaone, made applications to pay off balance to get title. It was decided to allow applicants to capitalise if they wish to pay off balance. Messrs G. C. Aitkenand J. Aitken, selectors of section 17, Block Ilf.' and Block IV., Wairoa, applied to capitalise their unpaid instalments. Agreed to. The selector of small run No 29, Tokomaru, wrote abandoning the same. The Board deeided toadrertise audoffer laud after 30 days’ notice Approved. A report was read from the Crown Lands Ranger with reference to sowing Crown Laud along the Wainuiroa and East Coast Road, with grass seed. It was resolved tp recommend Government to incur expense, and to the proposed transfer with the Natives. The Surveyor-General suggested that sections 48 and 66, Pahiafcua, should not be cut up at present in view of their being required for a village special settlement. It was moved by Mr Bunny, seconded by Mr McCardle, That the original resolution be carried out. Carried. Messrs McKeague and others wrote with reference to opening land under the homestead system. Commissioner requested to obtain further information as to locality, &c., and the amount the Government will advance for road works. Mr McCuddy, selector of section 114, Block XIV, Mangaone, wrote with reference to clearing of a road to the same. Resolved that arrangements be made for one Roard Board to expend the whole amount. Messrs. A. R. and N. G. Woon again applied for part of small run, No. 31, Tokomara. Decided to ask the Government to authorize the Commissioner to subdivide the run. Mr •J. Duncan renewed his application for small run, No. 33, Otairi, to be cut into two parts. Not granted. The Commissioner informed the Board that the Minister of Lands had decided not to offer the Cross Creek Village sections, as they were in the occupation of railway employes. Moved by Mr Bunny seconded by Mr Fitzherberfc that Government be recommended that these sections be offered as originally proposed in order to protect the interest of the present occupants. Carried. A letter waa received from Mr Jessen, Mauri Seville, with reference to insertion of bis back pegs. The Commissioner informed the Board that inspection would be shortly made. A report was read from the Surveyor on the suitability of the land between the Mangaone Block and the Native Reserve for a village settlement. The Commissioner recommended that no special settlement be established. Carried. Mr Beetham gave notice that he would move at next meeting that a sutvey office be established at Pahiatua. The meeting theD terminated.
