(united press association ) Christchurch, June 16. The Press this morning publish is the following in reference to Sir Jaliui Vog-.l's remarks in tho House last night as to what he termed the “ scandalous paragraph ” sent by the Press Wellington c >rre=ipondent re Sir J. Vogel and Mr Buckland : —“ VVh;n we printed our correspondent’s telegram we were certainly under the improssi *u that r/e were giving publicity to a perfectly harmlrSi rumor. We bad n > intention of imputing anything derogatory to the private character or either oi the gentlemen named, nor d> we think that the paragraph can bear any such construction. if Sir -luiius Vog-1 thinks otherwise we can only express our sinjere regret for any injury he may possibly hare sustained by it.”
