EATRHQUAKE AT KAIKOURA.
(united press association.) Kaikoura, June 15. A shock of earthquake was felt here at an early hour this morning. Last Thursday morning, between 3 and 4 o’clock, several persons in this district distinctly heard a report like the boom of a gun fired at sea. Some of them rose to see if any vessels under shelter at Kaikoura Peninsula were firing signals of distress, but not observing any signs, took no further notice of the matter.
