GRATTAN RIGGS’ RETURN SEASON. ■» The reappearance and farewell season of the popular Irish comedian, Mr Grattan Riggs at Wellington, is annonced. The date of opening is fixed for Dext Monday evening, the opening performance being the sensational Irish drama “ The Peep o’ Day,” in which Mr Riggs sustains the character of Barny O’Toole. His representation of this character is spoken of by the Australian Press as being a most realistic performance, and the assertion is confirmed by the Press of Auckland, in which city Mr Riggs last performed this character, to crowded houses nightly. The management are sparing no expense on its production in this city in order to make it a great success. The piece will be produced with entirely new scenic and mechanical effects, including a real waterfall. “Peep o’ Day” will be played for two nights (Monday and Tuesday). On Wednesday will be produced, for the first time in Now Zealand, the sensational drama “Grasp, or a Mother’s Love,” which was performed in Melbourne' by Mr Grattan Riggs for a long season to crowded houses. The piece abounds with thrilling sensational scenes from beginning to end. It will be played on Thursday, also. On Friday and Saturday, the last two nights of the season, will be produced the beautiful drama of the “ Green Bushes.” We may mention that the company are at the present time performing a most successful season at Napier, also that Mr Grattan Riggs is nightly received by crowded aud enthusiastic audiences. Mr R. B. Wiseman, the advance business manager, states that Mr Charles McMahon’s intention is to make this return visit surpass his first in Wellington in the way of productions, and that he will spare no expense in the presentation of each production during the ensuing season. The programme for the season is a most attractive one, and we feel assured the management will have no cause to regret their return visit to Wellington.
