New Zealand Mail Office, . Thursday evening. Business during the week has been, somewhat dull with little change in the prices of imported articles. The only arriyal. of an English, vessel since our last report has been that of the Carnarvon Castle, from Liverpool, with a cargo chiefly of heavy goods. The American vessel Chasca, from New York, has been on the voyage ever since the 30th of January, and is anxiously expected. Candles continue very cheap, and have been sold in large parcels as low as for London sperms, and 4d for colonial. Kerosene is still in heavy stock, which will be largely increased on the arrival of the Chasca and Mary E. Russell. There is a decided improvement in the grain market. Best milling wheat is firm at 3s 9d in Canterbury, and has been sold as high as 4s there. Best feed oats in Wellington are worth 2s 3d to 2s 6d per bushel. Flour has advanced LI a ton, and is' quoted in Wellington for best New Zealand brands at from LlO to LlO 10s. Adelaide brings Ll2 10s per ton. There s very little doing in butter or cheess. Dunedin, June 9. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report (per Mr D. Stronach) as follows.: Cattle—26l were yarded. Best bullocks brought L 8 to L 9 10s ; one pen LlO 2s 6d ; ordinary, L4ss to L 7 10s. Beef, 17s 6d to 20s. Sheep—2B7s were penned. Best crossbred wethers, brought 9s 6d to 11s 3d : others; brought 7s 6d to 9s ; best cross-bred ewes, 9a to 11s ; ordinary 6s to 8s 9d ; merino wethers, 3s Gd to 6s 6d; mutton, to 2d per Üb. Lambs—4B9 brought 2s 3d to 7s 6d each. Bigs —172 were yarded. Porkers brought 16s to 25s ; baconers, 27s to 453. Half a-dozen heavy weights, brought 50s to 565. Christchurch, 3 une 9. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report per Mr E. G. Sta'veley as follows : At Addington market to day, 6000 sheep and moderate entries of other stock. The severe weather interfered with the attendance. Considering this, the full supply of fat sheep sold fairly well. There was a good demand for. prime cross-breds, _ fit to export, which realised 2d per lb ; medium sorts ljrd upwards. Best wethers, brought 10s 6d to 12s ; medium, 7s to 9s ; ewes and light weights 5s and 6s. No store sheep were sold. Pigs were unsaleable, except baconers which made 30s to 435. No demand for store cattle. Beef was dull, bullocks bringing L 7 to L 8 15s ; exceptionly heavy, LlO 10s. Cows and heifers L 4 103 to L 6 15s, equaling 16s to 19s per hundred. Not many prime fat cattle were yarded.
