The Wellington and Midland first elevens commenced their heat of the Senior Cap on Saturday. The Wellingtons went in first, and, on a good , batting wicket, scored 154, the principal scorers being Heenan (35). Lynch (19), Newbold (16), and Gore (14). The Midlanders then went in, and had lost seven wickets for 62 when time was called, Cox being credited with 26 (not out) and K. Blacklock with 15. The Wellington second eleven and Surrey first heat for the Junior Cup was continued on Saturday afternoon. The Wellington second eleven is now 90 to tbe good. The Ashley fi:st and Poneke second started their match for the Junior Cup on Saturday, the former making 117—France, 29 ; Paul, 27 ; Coltman, 14 ; and Gamble, 10.
