M. Atari Gastano, of Springvale, Wanga nui, has shown the Chronicle some crushed tawa berries, which he stated contained a large percentage of oil similar to olive oil. He said he had previously shown the sample to a local chemist, who had confirme-1 him in his opinion. M. Gastano, who evidently regards the result of his experiments as being of some value, intends sending a quantity to Auckland or some other place where they can be tested in the same way as the olive berry. He feels confident that if he can obtain the assistance of a little capital he will be able to produce a valuable oil and establish another industry.
