WAIROA.

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wairoa,. October 25. Much dissatisfaction is experienced by upcountry settlers here at Government refusing to grant a direct overland mail service to Gisborne. Numerous settlers living along the line of road, have to go long distances for their mail. The proposed service would help to open up extensive Crown lands and unite two centres. The weekly mail service established between here and Cricklewood, only benefits the owner of that station, his family and employes, and the survey party in the neighborhood. There are no other settlers within twelve miles, while a Gisborne mail would be of immense benefit to a greatnumber. ?

The adjudication of the Whakapunake Block, 42,000 acres in this district, by the Native Lands Court, was finished to-day, Judge Brookfield presiding. The Judge proceeds to Waikokara on the West Coast, to hold a court at that place. Judge Williams will hold an adjourned sitting of this Court at Hastings.
