Melbourne, October 23. Arrived, this morning Union steamship Ringarooma, from tbe Bluff. Sydney, October 2 3. Arrived, this afternoon P.M.S. Zealandia, from San Francisco, via Auckland. Melbourne, October 23. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency ’'Company (Limited) held their usual weekly wool sale today, when an important catalogue of some 2700 bales was offered, and 2000 sold. There was the usual large attendance of buyers. The market continues fairly active, and competition was animated up to certain limits, but the owners’ reserves were in several instances above the market value of the wool. Greasy merinos realised up to lid, and scoured wools to 20^d. Sydney, October 24. The Legislative Assembly, after a sitting of nineteen hours, lias carried through the railway proposals and the Appropriation Bill. Sydney, October 24. New Zealand wheat, per bushel, 3s Id ; New Zealand oats, 3s ; maize, 4s lOd. Sugar Company’s No. 1 pieces, per ton, L3l. Melbourne, October 24. The Melbourne manager of tbe National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited) reports the sale of a cargo of kauri timber, ex Grassmere, at the following average prices : —At per 100 ft super, hewn logs, 13s; sawn flitches, 16s 3d. Union Steamship Te Anau from Auckland. WRECK OF THE CHANG CHOW. News has been received here that the China Navigation Company’s steamship Chang Chow, bound from Newcastle to Hong Kong, has been wrecked on the coast of Queensland. All the passengers and crew were ao von COMMERCIAL. Sydney, October 28. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency held their second wool sale of the season this day. The catalogue comprised 1300 bales, of which 1077 bales were sold. Medium greasy wools realised to 3 Od, and medium scoured to 183-d. Spirited competition was experienced. Melbourne, October 28. The Melbourne manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited) reports of the local markets as follows: —Wheat, 3s lOd to 3s lid; the market is fiat. Malting barley is firm at 4s to 4s 6d. New Zealand oats—Feeding qualities, 3s 6d to 3s Bd, with moderate inquiry; milling ditto are steady at 3s 8d to 3s 9d. New Zealand oats, under bond, are slow of sale 4 ,2 s lOd to 3s. Kauri pine sold at auction to-day at the following average prices : At per 100 ft super, hewn logs, 12s to 12s 6d. The market is depressed. Messrs C. S. Ross and Co., of this city, report the sale of a cargo of kauri timber, ex Cabarfeidh, at the following rates: —At per 100 ft super, hewn logs, 12s ; sawn hoards, lin, 11s to Us 6d ; ditto, liin to 3in, 13s 9d.
