port a steady business in both lines, Reads Bull Dog’s Head being the most favorite brand in demand, and agents report, stocks ex Orari to be cleared, and sales to arrive, ex Piako, .at full rates. Dried Eruits —Trade in dried fruits has been somewhat quiet. Currants are obtainable at 51d to sid ; sultana raisins are in supply at 7d to 7id ; elemes, dull at 6d to 6£d ; muscatels are in supply at low rates.; figs, Js to ius 6d per dozen, according to size of box and quality; Jordan almonds, 2s 6d to 2s 9d. Cement —Further supplies have come to hand. A good demand exists, with stocks not excessive. Kates are, however, unchanged. Candles a moderate demand. De Roubaix are quoted at did • Price’s Belmonts are in quiet sale at lO.td to 10id; Nationals, low in stock; London sperms, - 9|d to 9.W; fluted paraffin, lOd to lOid ; Dunedin candles have been in fair demand at BJd for Adamantines, and 8d to B£d for Southern Cross ; Kitchen s Wellington candles have been in steady sale at Sid to B|d for petrolines, and 7gd to 7|d for stars. Fish —This market is again quiet ; salmon is quoted at 7s Gd to 7s 9d for Outting’s Pacific Coast, and Ss for Cocktail; btar lobsters have been inquired for {at 8s to 8s 3d ; sardines are quoted at 9s to 9s 6d for halves, and 5s to 5s 6d for quarters. Metals —Corrugated iron is fully supplied and in fair demand ; in fencing wire very little business has. been done, and prices are unchanged ; wire nails are in light supply, and worth Ll 9 for assorted parcels. Oilmen’s Stores—We have to report a steady business in most lines, with prices much the same as last reported. Colonial Produce Laery and Campbell report“ During the past week business has been steady, and prices have been fully maintained, except for potatoes, which have declined 20s per ton ;. holders are forcing supplies, but unless arrivals are very heavy L 6 should be obtainable for small lots for some time. New potatoes have been in short supply, but prices have not advanced. Oats are offering freely. Flour is still at Jj9. Oatmeal is uot likely to improve this season. Onions, none in the market. Maize, 4s 4d, scarce ; peas, 3s Cd, demand small; beans, without inquiry ; barley tailings unsaleable ; chick wheat, 2s 6d to 3s for first-class, inferior hard to sell; milling wheat, no market here, but it is worth 3s 9d for up-country mills ; bran and pollard will continue to decline as the season advances ; salt butter not asked tor ; fresh do, 6d to 6-id ; eggs, lOd to 10M ; poultry, scarce ; oranges realised 14s to los. J-here were but few horses in the yard on Saturday, and, although not of a first-class stamp, were eagerly sought after.
