EATAL ACCIDENT.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, September 25.
This afternoon a deplorable occurrence, resulting in the death of one of the contractors, took place at the new Presbyterian Church in course of erection at Surrey Hills. Part of the building had been put up when a gust of wind caught it and blew it down, and Gavin Miller Darrell was struck violently by the falling timber, his head being crushed. Death was instantaneous. Percy Lipscombe, who at the time was conversing with Darrell inside the building, jumped through an opening and escaped.
