The following is the amount of Customs duties received at the port of Wellington during the month of September :

The New Zealand Boan and Mercantile Agency Company (per Mr Staveley reports as under:— At Addington Yards there was a large supply of sheep, both fat and stores. Mutton is easier ; best, 2fd per lb. with a good demand. Store sheep and store cattle dull. Forward bullocks, L 5 15s. Beef: A moderate supply with good inquiry ; best 22s 6d per 1001 b. Dunedin, September 24.. The New Zealand Loan and Agency Company (per Mr Donald Stronach) reports as follows : 238 cattle were yarded, two thirds being prime, balance medium. Best bullocks brought L 9 10s to 810 10s ; do cows, B 7 10s to B 8 15s. Beef 22s 6d per 1001 b. 2475. sheep were penned. Of these 750 were merinos, the balance crossbreds. Best crossbred brought 19s to 21s 6d; merinos. 10s to 14s. Crossbreds mutton 3Jd to 3Jd; merino, 3|d to 3fd per lb. 20 lambs sold at 14s 6d to 16s 6d. 110 pigs were yarded, all in killing condition. The prices were lower, ranging from 30s to 75 according to weight. Dunedin, October 1. The New Zealand Boan and Mercantile Agency Company (per Mr D. Stronach) report : 212 cattle were yarded, nearly all prime. A few medium best bullocks brought L 9 10s to Lll 10s; cows in proportion. Best beef at 22s 6d to 25s per 1001 b; ordinary, 20s per 1001 b. 1961 sheep were penned. Of these 500 were merinos, and the balance crossbreds. Best crossbreds brought 20s to 24s 9d ; others, 10s 9d to 18s 6d ; merinos, 13s 6d to 13s 9d. Prime mutton, 3Jd per lb. 45 lambs were in, and sold at 14s"6d to 17s 6d. 141 pigs were yarded. Suckers, 11s 6d to 18s; porkers and bacon pigs, 25s to 525. Christchurch, October 1. The New Zealand .Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (per Mr G. Staveley) reports : Addington Market.—There.was a full supply of sheep, and prices were easier. Best crossbred wethers, 19s ; merinos, 14s 9d ; best mutton, 2fd per lb. There was a good demand for store sheep. Fat cattle are selling freely, with a limited entry. Beef, 22s 6d per 1001 b. There was a large entry of store cattle, but business is quiet.

At Napier: Ewes with lambs, are quoted from 11s 9d to 13s 6d; wethers, from 10s 6d to 13s 6d ; hoggets, 4s 9d to 7s 3d; steers and heifers, 37s to 100 s; 40 yearling heifers and steers at 33s ; horses from B 8 10s to L3O.
