KILLED BY A TRAIN.

(united pbess association.) j Nelson, September 20. \ woman named Mercer, who kept the Travellers’ Rest Hotel at Appleby, was killed on the railway line at 8.20 this morning. The down train from Belgrove was within a few yards of a railway crossing, when the unfortunate woman attempted to cross the line, t result being that she was struck by the engine and killed instantaneously. An inquest will be held.
