Among other things recommended by the Public Works Committee is the payment of £2OO to ALipane Marangae, in full of all claims for laud taken for the extension of Taranaki-street.
On Saturday night our old friend Bachelder and his American Pantascope make their reappearance in this city, after a lengtened absence from New Zealand. The Pantascope is descriptive of the railway journey between New York and San Francisco, showing all the wonders of the way by that extraordinary route. The traveller is then conveyed across the "Pacific to Auckland, calling at Honolulu on the way, and there is also a very descriptive illustration of a storm at sea, but the traveller is finally landed safely at Sydney.. In addition to this very fine series of views, there is a Panorama of the Polar Seas, descriptive of the search for the North West passage, and as the <l Show ” belongs to Mr. Bachelder it is needless to say the entertainment is brought to a close with “ Gifts.” We had almost omitted to mention that in addition to these very powerful attractions, there is a ventriloquist in connection with the entertainment, so that altogether it promises to be o >e of the most pleasing yet brought round by Mr.Bachelder, who will always be remembered as the proprietor of the American War Diorama, which came to New Zealand ten years ago.
