Through his dam he is directly related to some of the best race horses ever in New Zealand, viz., "Wetsail," the best mare of her day, " Stormbird," winner of the Canterbury cup of 1000 sovereigns, Belle of the Isle," (own sister to Southern Chief) winner of the Canterbury cup of 1000 sovereigns, and dam of the renowned " Templeton."
