PROSPECTUS ©i? a anew iewspipeh. THE public are repectfully informed, that, a new WEEKLY NEWSPAPER, will be published on every Monday in each week, to be called THE AUCKLAND STANDARD. This paper will be much larger than the Auckland Herald, and will contain all news of interest from England, the Continent of Europe, and the United States of America. As regards Colonial affairs, the fullest information will be given, both as regards shipping intelligence, agricultural operations and improvements, discoveries in coal and other minerals, and, more especially, the indigenous products of this fine Island in flax and timber, which are unsurpassed in the world. The next primary object of the Proprietors will be, to advocate the supremacy of the law, to uphold the authorities in the just exercise of their functions, but, at the same time, to hold forth a shield against tyranny and oppression. But, above all, the object of the Auckland Standard will be, to support Religion, Law, and Order, and in every respect, advance the interests of the Community at large. The first Number will appear on MONDAY EVENING NEXT, February 28, 1842. For further particulars, apply at the Office of this Paper.
