MATCH WITH WELLINGTON In connection with the visit of the Wellington team to play Auckland at Carlaw Park next Saturday week, the chairman of the Auckland Rugby League. Mr J. W. Watson, said at last evening's meeting that a strong team had been selected, and there was every prospect of a good contest. Mr Watson said he would visit Wellington next week and accompany the southern team to Auckland. The appointment of referees for senior grade fixtures was the subject of a letter from the senior clubs' officers' association, which claimed that the balance of power in appointments should be vested in the management committee. Mr Watson said a conference had been held with the referees' association, and it was decided, therefore, to defer the question for a fortnight.

Ihe chairman reported that the sum of £524 from gate receipts had been handed to the injured players' fund. Considerable discussion arose over an appeal by R. P. The club wrote stating that Smyth had played regularly in the senior B gra H e, which was considered equal in status to the A grade. It was decided to uphold the appeal on the grounds that provision had not been made for a game in the senior A grade. A letter of congratulation will be sent to the club. Mr I.
