THEFT FROM CAR
TWO MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT The theft of eight packets of cigarettes and a torch, of a total value of 12s, from a motor-car parked in Victoria Street, was admitted by Harry Matthews, aged 24, labourer, before Mr J. H. Luxford. S.M., yesterday, Sub-Inspector Sparks said that the owner of the par discovered accused and another Maori, who had since been dealt with, in his car. They had taken the cigarettes and torch. Accused ran away, but was found later. He was at present, awaiting sentence in the Supreme Court on other charges. _ "Car pickers will get no mercy from this Court," said the magistrate, in imposing a sentence of two months' imprisonment,
