AIR FORCE WEDDING

GRAY—RASHLEIGH St. John's Methodist Church, Ponsotiby, was the scene of the wedding on Monday evening of Miss Phyllis Jean Rashleigh, daughter of Mr and Mrs C. M. Rashleigh, Goodwood Park, Adelaide, Australia, to Flight-Lieutenant Roy Gray, R.N.Z.A.F., youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs Steele Gray, Westmere, Auckland. The Rev. W. Rowe, R.N.Z.A.F. chaplain, officiated. The bride was given away by Mr G. Bradley. She wore a silver beaded trained gown of magnolia satin, with an embroidered tulle veil, and carried a white Prayer Book with trails. . The matron of honour, Mrs Vida Day, wore a two-toned gown of dusky pink and burgundy, trimmed with gold embroidery, and a coronet to match her bouquet of carnations. The best man was Flight-Lieutenant D. Hogan. Following the ceremony a reception was hold at the Lanchester Tea Rooms. EAST TAMAKI RED CROSS The annual meeting of the East Tamaki sub-centre of the Red Cross Society was presided over by Mrs C. Elmbranch, who reported on the good work done bv members during the year. A sample display of work was shown. The following: officers were elected:— President, Mrs C. Elmbranch; vice-presi-dent, Mrs C. Allen; honorary secretary, Mrs E. Stone; honorary treasurer, Mrs W. Guy; delegate, Mrs L. Gillard; convener, Mrs Elmbranch; and a comraitteee of 12 members. MOUNT ROSKILL SUB-CENTRE At the annual meeting of the Mount Roskill sub-centre, the commandant, Mrs 10. Frost, reported that 100 per cent of passes had been secured at the examinations held during the year. The following officers were elected;— Patroness, Dr Margaret Knight; president, Dr Allan Knight; vice-presidents. Mrs H. Molloy, Mrs E. Frost and Mr J. Cormack; chairman, Mr W. R. Little; hon. secretary, Mrs E. U. Hannigan; hon. treasurer, Mrs S. V. Bond; delegate to centre, Mrs E. Frost, and a committee of eight. W.C.T.U. MEETING The monthly executive meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was presided over by the president, Mrs J W. Long. Arrangements were made for the holding of a Mother's Day gathering. Members were asked to help in the Poppy Day collection and also in the patriotic shop. The annual report of the Maori Girls' Hostel was sent to the Minister of Education, Mr Mason, and the Mayor, Mr J. A. C. Allum, and replies had been received congratulating members on the splendid worK being done. ENGAGEMENTS Budden—Howes.—The engagement is announced between Benjamin Harold Wallace (Boyd), eldest son of Mrs H. B. Budden and the late Mr B. H. Budden, of Te Awamutu, and Colleen Dorothea, only daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Howes, of Auckland Hall-—Morris,—The engagement is announced, and the marriage will shortly take place, between Charles Frederick, only son of Mrs F. S. Hall and the late Mr Hall, of Hamilton, and Joan Tenia Morris, only daughter of Mr and Mrs H. H. Alderwick, Gordonton. Pound—Crulckshank.—Mr and Mrs J. Cruickshank, of Avondale, announce the engagement of their only daughter, Marion Armstrong, to Telegraphist Charles Daniel Pound, 8.N.Z.N., only son of Mrs Pound and the l&t« Mr D. Pound, of Botoruft.
