KILLED ON OPERATIONS PILOT FROM MAN CREW A Advice that their son, WarrantOfficer Anthony -Harold Bailey, has been killed on air operations in Europe has been received by Mr and Mrs M. C. Bailey, of Wiri. Manurewa. War-rant-Officer Bailey, who was 23, years of age, was educated at the Avondale Convent and Otaua and Maioro Schools. He was engaged in farming before joining the Air Force in December, 1941. Leaving New Zealand in January, 1943, he undertook further training- in Britain and became a fighter pilot. He had flown Hurricane aud Typhoon fighters and more recently had been flying Tempests. PRISONERS SAFE NEW ZEALAND PERSONNEL (P.A.) OBITUARY

MR G, R. WATTS The death occurred in the Rotom Hospital recently of Mr George Robert Watts, of Arawa Street, Rotorua, at the age of 78. Born in Auckland, Mr Watts went to Rotorua 27 years ago and joined the staff of the Rotorua Public Hospital. Up to the time of his death he was attached to the armed forces medical board there. Mr Watts was a well-known member of the Rotorua Bowling Club. He is survived by his wife. MR A. E. DAVOREN (0.C.) HAMILTON, Friday The death has occurred at Hamilton of Mr Alfred Edward Davoren, of Tauranga, aged 75 years. He was born at Tauranga, being the eldest son of the late Sergeant George Davoren, who settled there after service in the Waikato war. Mr Davoren was perhaps best known as an orcbardist and for his knowledge of horses, and he was a life member of the Bay of Plenty Jockey Club. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son. THE ROTARY CLUB HAMILTON ANNIVERSARY (0.C.) HAMILTON, Friday There was a large attendance of local and visiting Rotarians at the celebrations which commenced this evening to mark the 21st anniversary of the foundation of the Hamilton Rotary Club. The district governor, Mr Harold Thomas, congratulated the Hamilton Club and its president, Mr A. M. Rosie, on the progress the club had made and the useful service it had given. The principal address was given by Mr L. K. Munro, of Auckland, who spoke on the shape of things to come in international affairs. He referred with great regret"to the death of President Roosevelt, whom he described as a really great man, and outlined what he considered to be the likely effect of the removal of his influence from the sphere of international politics in relation to post-war problems. NATIVE LAND COURT NEW JUDGE APPOINTED (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday The appointment is announced of Mf Ivor Prichard, of Waitara, as a Judge of the Native Land Court. He was born .and educated at Blenheim. He served in the last war and for the last 21 years has been in practice at Waitara. He will be stationed in Auckland. SUPREME COURT JUDGE Recently appointed to the Supreme Court Bench, Mr Justice Cornish will arrive in Auckland from Wellington tomorrow to take up Supreme Court business on Monday. His Honor, who was Solicitor-General and a King's Counsel, was appointed to the Bench in February. He first took his place on the Bench at Palmerston North in February. INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS The annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs was held last night. Officers were elected as follows: —President, .Mr W.. T. G.
