WOOL PAYMENTS
FIFTH DISTRIBUTION TOTAL REACHES £1,902.980 The distribution of a further £464,546 for wool sold at the fifth Auckland appraisal raises payments to growers in the province this season to £1,902,980. As there is still another appraisal to be made to complete the season's fixtures, it is expected that total payments this season will exceed last year s record figure of £2,0^,5,891. Results of the fifth appraisal, held in Auckland from March 21 to March 25. show that the total weight of wool appraised was 8)713,0841b, valued at £464,546. The average price a £l9 6s. and the average per lb 12.79 d. The total of bales appraised was 24.06/ of an average weight of 3621b. The last opportunity for growers to submit wool for sale this season will be at the final appraisal set down for April 29. for which they are being urged to despatch wool promptly.
