A SUBSTANTIAL TURNOVER Solid trading marked the innovation yesterday of -the Auckland Stock Exchange's new system of announcing daily turnover. The business in Government loans for the day totalled £14,350, face value, while the number of shares dealt in was 5246. Business was particularly active at the final call, when some substantial parcels of Government loans were transferred, leaving the market for some issues slightly easier. A feature of the day was the recovery in National Bank of New Zealand, which were lifted 2s on sale at 555, the levels ruling here at the end of last year. At the same time New Zealands continued to react and were marked lown Is to 48s (id. Strong interest developed in I'eid Rubbers, which registered an advance ol' Is :kl. WAIHI, Friday The following- information has been cabled to the London office of the Martha Gold Mining Co. (Waihi), Ltd.: —During the fourweekly neriod ended March 30, the mine was operated on 19 days and crushed 11,977 tons for 7770z of gold and 28,1200/, of silver. THE CITY MARKETS HEAVY PRODUCE SUPPLY Cabbages and cauliflowers were in heavy supply at the City Markets yesterday, and prices were low. Celery was also in oversupply, and northern and Tauranga kumaras came forward in good quantities. There, was an over-supply of tomatoes. Prices for the heavy quantities of grapes offored fell accordingly, and Cape gooseberries and passion fruit sold at about last week's rates. There was a good demand for quality quinces.
