OBITUARY
| MR W. L. MOORE | The death has occurred of Mr Wfl« i liam Leithfiekl Moore, a well-known I Auckland commercial man, at the age j of 46. He was also well known in tlia i Gisborne, East Coast and Poverty Bay districts. Born in Leithfield, North Canterbury. Mr Moore joined the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Co. in Christchurch ia 1915. and. after a short time in Wellington, came to Auckland in 1922.' A keen follower of Rugby League football. Mr Moore was a member oj | the Richmond Club, for which he played | when he first came to Auckland. He j was _ part-owner of the racehorses j Aiguille, Autumnina, Penny-Come- | Quick and Mendelssohn. Mr Moore was 1 not married. MR 0. G KERN The death has, occurred at Green Lane Hospital after a short illness of Mr Cecil George .Kern, a well-knowß resident of the Runciman district, in his 90th year. Mr Kern was born in Ceylon, and went to sea at the age or 1 />; He came to Auckland as a member of the crew of the Baron Aberdare. a vessel under the charter of the N&* Zealand Shipping Company which brought out nearly 200 immigrants, a?* rivifuj in March, 1575. Leaving the ship at Auckland, Mr ' Kern took up farm work at Otahubn for a number of years, and at the age of 28 married Miss Lydia Ballard, or Runciman. He then took up farming at Ramarama, where he lived until his death. His wife died in 1940. Mr Kern is survived by one son and six daugjj* ters.
