FINAL TRAINING

A FAST FOUII FUKLONGS EXETER AND NEPETA IN FORM BY ARCHER Some fast sprinting was accomplished at Ellerslie yesterday, when final training lor the lirst day of tho Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting was accomplished. The No. 1 grass was used for galloping and tho going* was excellent after heavy overnight rain, which fell between midnight and about J? a.m. Tho fastest sprint was recorded bv (Oxeter and Nopeta, and others to go well were Kol Ragi, To Hinemoa, Lou Rosa, Balmoro and Tutere.

Exeter (Cameron) and Nepeta (Corbett) sprinted four furlongs attractively in 48s. They finished together. Exeter carried a good weight and appears to be better than ever. Nepeta is also in capital order. Kol Ragi (J. Bagby) dashed over four furlongs 111 -IS a-fls. He is fit and has worked pleasingly since arriving at Ellerslie. To Hinemoa (Corbett) was slightly better than Lou Rosa (Kcesing) over four furlonns in 4<i 3-ss. These (Auckland Cup horses have completed their preparations in very pleasing fashion. Tutere sprinted three furlongs in 3Ss. it is doubtful whether be has ever looked better than lie does at present. He may be a possibility in the Railway Handicap. Pensacola went nicely over four furlongs in .">os. lie is an unconcerned fellow who doe.s his work like a real racehorse. Balmore sprinted three furlongs in ;17 4-ss. He has done well lately and should make it interesting in Hit? Great Northern Foal Stakes. Dinky Di, looking well, reeled off three furlongs in as 1-ss. Ramicourt covered nix furlongs in I .•_'() the first three in at) l-ss. He is a sluggish worker. ■Our Gold and British Talent were responsible for five furlongs in 1.4 '_'-5. Cowper (C. Markwick) dashed over four furlongs in 40s. Sir Dink encompassed a round in 2.0 2-5, the last four furlongs in s'2s. iAI-Sirat ran three furlongs under a good bold in 40 4-ss. He seemed anxious to go faster. Those who have witnessed bis racing- believe that be is very good. Aguilo and Red King covered five furlongs in l.<> 3-5. Llaruirth completed useful work with three furlongs in II 'J-ss. He is getting close to form. Bridge lAcre ran six furlongs comfortably in t.-j;i '2-5. TE HINEMOA FIT

USEFUL MILE GALLOP The Auckland Cup favourite, Te Hinemoa, arrived at Ellerslie on Saturday morning and she was the first to use the course proper on Sunday, when the poles were out 50ft and the going was excellent. Ridden by the apprentice \V. Corbett, Te Hinemoa did a nice working gallop over a mile in 1.50 4-5. She ran the last seven furlongs in 1.35 and the last three in 30 2-ss. Te Hinemoa is a mass of condition and should be one of the fittest horses in the field in today's two-mile contest.

Another Cup candidate to work nicely was Air Port, who ran right away from Gold Spot in the concluding stages of a round to beat him very easily in 2.6 3-5. Air Port was assisted over the last five furlongs by Laddie Bov. He ran the last seven furlongs in 1.34 3-5" and the last five in I.S. Mrs E. M. Sloane has Air Port in excellent condition. Whether Air Port will run two miles solidly remains to be proved. His breeding leaves a doubt whether he will. The fastest sprints of the morning were recorded by the three-year-old Rampede and Tiger Tan, both of whom ran four furlongs in 49 l-ss. Rampede ran several good races in the spring, but his latest efforts have fallen below expectations. Another good effort was that of Diamond King arid Yours and Mine, who covered five furlongs in 1.3 1-5, the first two in 25 l-ss. They finished together, Yours and Mine seems to be on the improve. He was placed three times as a two-year-old last season. Reorapa, after running the first two in 245. completed five furlongs in 1.0 2-5. He was eased in the straight and could have done better. He is a speed merchant likely to make the pace torrid if he jumps out cleanly in the Railway Handicap. Tiger Tan accounted for Century over four furlongs in 40 4-ss. Tiger Tan is fit and galloped pleasingly. Century also went well for one in her class. Hunting Camp sprinted five furlongs in 1.4. . , , Billy Peach placed six furlongs behind in 1.21 1-5.
