FAR EAST BOMBING

ATTACK ON NAGOYA

SUPER-FORTRESS ACTIVITY (Rerd. 5.35 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Dec. 24 A Twentieth Air Force communique says that Super-Fortresses bombed the Mitsubishi aircraft plant at Nagoya on Friday. The results were not observed and the bombing was accomplished by instruments. Tho v Super-Fortresses suffered no losses.

Tho Saipan correspondent _ of the United Press says the majority of the returning crews reported the toughest fighter opposition so far met over Japan. One formation said more than 150 fighters were waiting over Nagoya for the Americans.

Navy Liberators and Mitchells raided Two Jima, Bonin Group. This raid was followed by a Super-Fortress attack on Saturday when heavy explosions were observed. All the Super-Fortresses returned to their base on Saipan. Slight and inaccurate flak was encountered and fighter opposition was lacking. The Tokyo radio says a single SuperFortress dropped bombs on Tokyo at dawn on Saturday. Mustangs twice raided Canton.

The Japanese Foreign Office has protested to the United States Government that American aircraft violated international law on December 12, sinking the Japanese hospital ship Mura Maru.
