CATHEDRAL WEDDING GREGORY—TAYLOR St-. Patrick's Cathedral was the scene of tlie wedding on Saturday morning of Miss Nita Bernadettc Taylor, second daughter of Mr and Mrs I). W. Taylor, of IS Wood Street, Ponsonby (formerly of Whangarei), to Mr SelwyirGregory, of Thames, Father Rico officiated and celebrated nuptial mass. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a trained frock of iceblue figured satin, made with a olosefitting bodice finished at the neckline with route work, three-quarter sleeves and a lull skirt. A veil of palest pink net was held by a topknot of blue flowers, and her bouquet was of Christinas lilies. Tho bridesmaids, Miss M. Ngaropo and Miss M. Peita, wore pale pink crepe de chine frocks and small crinoline hats in the same shade. They carried bouquets of pink carnations and blue cornflowers. Two little (lower Theresa Bristow and Harriet Anderson, were in |»;t 1<■ lilue lloral l'rocks. The best man was Mr .John Murray and the groomsman Mr R. O'Brien. The reception was held at the Manchester Unity Hall.

NURSES' WAR SERVICE

MENTIONED IN DESPATCHES Ah Auckland nursing sister and member of the Queen Alexandra Imperial .Military Nursing Service Reserve, Miss Muriel (J. Brown, daughter of Mr and ilrs A. G. Brown, of Woodside Road, Mount Eden, has returned home after continuous war service in ISgypfc, all through the Tunisian campaign, at the lia.se hospital in Tripoli, and finally in Italy. Miss Brown, who was trained at lbc> Auckland Hospital, wears not only the coveted Africa Star of the Eighth Army, but also the oakleal' awarded for mention in despatches, a distinction which was conferred in her case for her fine service in Africa and Italy. Being in London at the outbreak of war. Miss Brown joined the British Army Nursing Corps. When at the British base hospital near Cairo she was able to meet I wo of her brothers who left New Zealand in the First Echelon, while her youngest brother is now in Italy, Another nurse whose name appears in a list of awards announced on Saturday, and who was mentioned in despatches in JD42, is Sister X. I*]. O'Callaghan, daughter of Mrs L. O'Callaghan, of Hikurangi. Sister O'Callaghan was nursing in both Whangarei and Auckland prior to going overseas. Born in Australia, she came to New Zealand with her parents in 1921 and commenced her nursing training in Whangarei. completing at the Auckland Hospital, where she was a gold medallist. For two years she was on the staff of the Whangarei Hospital, but returned to Auckland, where -lie was nursing for some years before going overseas early in the war. Sister O'Callaghan is on the staff of the Second New Zealand General Hospital with the forces in the Middle East.

CHRISTMAS PANTOMIME PRINCESSES AS PRINCIPALS (Reed. 5.35 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 24 The King and Queen enjoyed a Christmas pantomime yesterday in which Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret Rose were the principal performers. The pantomime was '"Old Mother Red Riding Boots," and tho princesses danced and sang a number of old-fashioned and up-to-date songs together.
