CORRUPT PRACTICE OWNER'S DISQUALIFICATION (0.C.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday At a judicial inquiry held in Napier Mr C. H. Slater, well-known owner of Hastings, was disqualified for 12 months. Slater is partowner of the horses Kincrop and Haughty Queen. During the racing at Napier on Saturday, the stipendiary steward asked for a stewards inquiry into unusual totalisator betting features in the Omahu Hurdles won by the 6 —l favourite Malacca This was opened and adjourned. The hearing was resumed in Napier later when, by unanimous resolution of the judicial committee, it was found that Slater had been guilty of an offence under Rule 338 (n) of the rules of racing. In announcing the finding, the chairman of the committee stated that consideration had been given to the straightforward manner in which Slater had given his evidence. Rule 33S covers the main field of corrupt practice in racing and sub-clause (n) relates to corrupt or fraudulent practice in connection with the totalisator. DIVISION RACES As the fields in three races, the Maiden Race, the Weraroa Hack Handicap and the Hokio Hack Handicap, at the Levin Racing Club's Spring Meeting at Otaki on Saturday exceed the safety limit, the stewards hav« decided to make provision for divisions in these events. Divisions have also been arranged in five of the eight races at the Waikato Racing Club's meeting, and in two events at the Southland Racing Club's fixture.

Division races have been adopted by nearly every club in the Dominion as the only Just way to copo with excessive fields and give owners and trainers an opportunity to race their charges who have been prepared for approaching events. In a few isolated cases the ballot system is applied, to the discomfiture of many who have spent time and money in preparing their horses. Owners and trainers are appreciative of the efforts of the clubs that study their interests.

TE RAPA SCRATCHING Franklyn was scratched for the Hautapu Hack Cup at the Waikato Racing Club's Spring Meeting at Te Rapa on Saturday at 4.10 p.m. yesterday. HONEST SAL FOR OTAKI (0-0.) The trip- to Levin is to give Honest Sal a chance to qualify for the Riccarton race. Special trials on the course proper hav« been arranged for tomorrow morning at Riccarton for horses engaged at the Canterbury Jnckey Club's Metropolitan Meeting on November 25 and December 2.

CLASSFORM LAME (0.C.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Wednesday Classform was lame after working last Thursday and. although she galloped on Saturday, she has had to be let up on account of a wrenched fetlock.
