WHEAT FOR BOLIVIA
MEETING ARGENTINE CUT SOUTH AMERICAN POSITION (Rccd. 6.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Nov. 14 The United States has sent a shipload of Australian wheat to Bolivia in an apparent effort to counter the Argentina pressure move against Bolivia, says the Associated Press. The full story of relations between Argentina and Bolivia has not yet been disclosed, but Argentina recently notified Bolivia without warning that wheat shipments from Argentina to Bolivia would bo cut 50 per cent on the pretext that Argentine army manoeuvres had dislocated rail transport. This may have been intended to remind Bolivians that the Argentine army is on the move and ready for action. At any rate, the wheat cut threatened a serious food shortage in Bolivia, so the United States ordered a ship bound from Australia with wheat to put into a Chilean port to unload the cargo for transhipment to Bolivia. Argentina for months, it is reported, has been using threats of indirect pressure against other Latin American nations to break down tbe solid antiArgentina front. The New York Times says the United States is making 10,000 tons of.wheat available to Bolivia. CIVIL AVIATION NO AGREEMENT YET (Reed. 5.35 p.m.) . NEW YORK, Nov. 14 The deadlock at the Chicago air conference continued, over the powers to be granted to the proposed international commercial aviation body. British, American and Canadian delegates continued a series of meetings in an effort to reconcile the _ in views. The parties adjourned without an agreement. NATIONAL INSURANCE BRITISH SOCIAL SECURITY (Rccd. 5.35 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 14 The House of Commons decided to change the title of the Ministry of Social Insuranco Bill to Ministry of National Insurance. Moving an amendment to this effect, Mr M. Petherick (Conservative) said the present title was at best redundant and at worst nonsensical.
