NO HAYEN IN EIRE GOVERNMENT'S ATTITUDE (Reed. 11.10 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 14 The Government of Eire has made known its attitude to-the United Kingdom Government's representations about the harbouring of war criminals. The Government of Eire says the right to grant asylum is not in question and it can give no assurance that would preclude it from exercising that right should justice, charity or the honour or interest of the nation so require. At the same time, since the present war began it has been the Eire Government's practice to deny admission to Eire of politically undesirable aliens and when they have landed in Eire they have been deported as soon as possible. The Government does not intend to alter this practice. . The Under-Secretary for the Donuitions said in the House of Commons that for its part the United Kingdom Government wished to make it clear that it would certainly, in the words used by the Eire Government, bo detrimental to the interests of the Irish people were war criminals to be harboured in Ireland. The resolution of loyalty is regarded in Labour circles as an answer to the suggestion that Mr Curtin is finding difficulty in retaining his control of the party.
