"At the present time there are about 00 joint works councils in fairly regular operation, but most of them arc in three industries. About 25 are in the meat freezing industry, ahout IS in tin l coalmining industry, and eight in the railway workshops. The remainder, probably not more than a dozen in all are scattered among a number of other industries." And then there is the further report in a bulletin of the Industrial Psychology Division of tin' D.S.I.H. which, on page 2, suggests, "According to English reports, works councils seem to be fully effective about one in four." so this subject would not appear to be a matter of any great moment. —Advt.
