FIGHT POSTPONED

CALTAUX AND PATRICK (Reed. 7.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 20 Vie Calteux's fight with the Australian Vic Patrick has been postponed until November 4. The pair were to have met on October 28 for the welter-weight championship of Australia and New Zeajaml. Patrick requested a postponement in order to improve his condition. AMATEUR BOXING A team of 12 Auckland amateur boxers will leave for Wellington this afternoon to take part in an inter-provincial tourney on Monday evening against Wellington amateurs. The team will be managed by Mr W. B. L. Power, with Mr F. Butler as trainer. A cud has been donated for competition between Auckland and Wellington amateurs by Mr W. Norwood. It will be known as the Interprovincial Cup, and it is hoped that next year it will be possible to inaugurate Auck-land-Wellington tourneys in both cities. The bouts for Mondav are arranged as follows, Auckland names taking precedence:— Light-heavy-weight: C. J. Honey v, H. Morgan, J. H. Kitchen v. E. O'Neill. Middleweight: W. Kingiratima v. P. Paori. CONTROL OF BOXING (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Friday The fact that boxing in New Zealand was controlled by voluntary associations with no private promotion, and that consequently a duty rested upon associations to see that the sport was kept alive, was stressed by Mr A. GIRL TAKEN FROM HOME (0.C.) KAITAIA. Friday A sentence ol three months' imprisonment was imposed by justices of the pence oil Percy .Joseph Dick, a Maori, when he pleaded yuilty in the Kaitaia Court to the charge that, with intent that an unmarried girl under the age of 18 should he unlawfully carnally known, he had taken the girl from the possession of her mother. Detective-Sergeant J. B. Finlay said that Dick had returned from overseas service about two years ago and had become friendly with the girl. Her parents refused them permission to marry, and they had decided to go away together, which they did. Dick was later arrested and the girl returned to her mother. Dick had previously been warned concerning his conduct with the girh, The justices said it was tip duty of the Court to protect voung girls unable to look after themselves. Dick was also charged with having had unlawful carnal knowledge of another girl at Dargarille, and on this charge he was remanded to appear at Dargavill©-
