A later message says that Dr Ahmed Maher's Cabinet consists of 13 members, representing all parties except Nahas Pasha's Wafdists. Nahas Pasha, leader of the dismissed Egyptian Cabinet, when interviewed by the British United Press correspondent in Cairo, said he was not surprised at his dismissal from the Prime Ministership. He added that there had been a long period of friction with King Farouk. ' "My conscience is clear," he stated, ! "because I did my duty fully toward Egypt and the Arab world. Governmental responsibilities did not enable me to come out openly as a fighter for democracy. I am now free to take up joyfully the struggle for liberty and democracy, not only for Egypt, but also for humanity." Asked if the suspension of the Director of Public Security was the real reason for the crisis. Nahas Pasha banged his table and cried: "It was only a pretext to dismiss the Ministry. The fundamental issue is the clash between democracy and autocracy."
