OBITUARY

MR THOMAS BUNTING The death has occurred at Rotorua of Mr Thomas Bunting, formerly of Christchurch. Mr Bunting, who was 85 years of age, was well known throughout the Dominion as the founder of the brush manufacturing business of Bunting and Co., Ltd. He pioneered the introduction of machinery in the industry in New Zealand, and was noted for the attention he gave to the welfare of his employees. After retiring from active participation in the business. Mr Bunting spent some years in the Auckland and Tauranga districts. He is survived by two sons. MR W. F. WARREN Tho dealh occurred yesterday of Mr Walter Frederick Warren, of Devonport, at the age of 73. Mr Warren was born and educated in Wellington, and as ft young man represented Wellington and New Zealand at cricket. He was a warrant-officer in the New Zealand Defence Force, Permanent Staff, and for nearly 2o years he was .stationed at North Head, Auckland. He retired 20 years ago. A keen golfer, Mr Warren was a foundation member of the Waileniata Golf Club. He was also a member of the Devonport Bowling Club. Mr Warren was a brother-in-law of the late Sir George Richardson. Ho is survived by his wife and a son.

REV. FATHER J. McGUINNESS (0.C.) THAMES, Monday The death has occurred of the Hev. Father James McGuinness. aged 70, retired Roman Catholic priest, who was for many years priest at To Arolva. He went overseas some years ago. undertaking work iu Melbourne, Brooklyn (United States) ami Newcastle (England). returning to New Zealand a few years ago. lie had since lived in retirement at Coromandel. MRS K. CROWTHER (0.C.) TAUPO, Monday The death has occurred of .Mrs Kate Crowther. aged 70. Mrs Crowther was born in Napier and came to laupo nearly 50 years ago when she married Mr Joseph Crowther, of Crowther and McAuley, one of the oldest coaching and mail contracting firms in the thermal district. After motors superseded the conches Mr and Mrs Crowther took over the Lake Hotel, Taupo, which they conducted for a number of years. Mr Crowther died in Taupo about 15 years ago. Mrs Crowther is survived by 'five children and seven grandchildren.
