TROTTING AT EPSOM THREE WINS FOR M. STEWART The Te Rapa trainer M. Stewart occupied the limelight at the Auckland Trotting Club's August Meeting at Kpsom on Saturday, when lie won with Lady Moness, Modest .Maid and Jack High, and notched two seconds with War Guard. Stewart was also third in the Trial Ha ndicap (non-totalisator event) with Bridget Mac. Beginning (smartly from 3Gvds bhd, Hillcrest was in front after two furlongs in the August Handicap and he was well clear in the middle stages. Nearing the turn Kewpie's Jewel, Shadow Son and War Guard closed on the leader, and Kewnie's Jewel finished strongly to win by three-quarters of a length. War Guard also ran on solidly and in the !ast few strides he beat Hillcrest b.v a neck for second. Shadow Son was a fair fourth, followed b.v the well-siipnortcd Bav Machine, who disappointed.
