UNDEFENDED ACTIONS CASE OF FORMER CONSUL Thirty undefended divorce petitions i were brought before Mr. Justice Fair ' and Mr. Justice Cullan yesterday. Divorce proceedings against a former ■ New Zealand Consul for Panama, Simon Quires y Quiros, were taken by i his wife, Eileen Balneavis Kinder ; Quiros y Quiros (Mr. Schramm), on the ground of desertion. They had two children, and had been very happy until last November he received a letter from his wife saying she had formed an association with another man, and asking him to divorce her. On account of this, he obtained leave to return to New Zealand. He found his wife had left her mother's home and she refused to return to him. An order wa.s issued requiring the respondent to return within 28 days. A railwayman who had seen service with the New Zealand railway unit overseas, Frank Owen Charlton Lubbock (Mr. Holmdon), sought an order for the return of his wife, Yvonne Elvira Lubbock. Addison, when he concluded an inquest into the death of a schoolboy, Robert Leslie Rose, aged 8, son of Mr. L. A. Rose, of 1.319 Dominion Road, Mount Hoskill. Evidence was given that the boy knocked ft pot of boiling water from a stove while-stay-ing with relatives and received scalds to an arm. Two days later he was ordered to the Auckland Hospital, where his death occurred later. Medical evidence showed that death was attributable to toxaemia, and not to scalding.
