Training College's points coming from a penalty goal. The only score in the second spell was another penalty goal for Training College. The heavier University pack controlled tho ball for the greater part of the first spell and the backs were given plenty of opportunities. Training College had, the better of the play territorially after the interval, and, had the side not lost its second five-eighths, Mitchell, toward the end of the first spell, it may have won the game. Mitchell's retirement caused a rearrangement of the backs. A a it was, Training College would have succeeded with an accurate kicker, a number of shots at goal from penalties being missed. Manukau beat Marist in a closely-contested game on No. 2 ground by two tries to one, all being converted.
