HOSPITAL BOARD
CHAIRMAN RETURNED three members defeated Three of the sitting members of the Auckland Hospital Board were defeated, six were elected, and one was returned unopposed. The chairman, Mr. A. J. Moody, who formerly represented the One Tree Hill and adjacent districts, but who stood for the city constituency on this occasion, was elected. In the city area the five members returned were all Citizens' nominees, Mr. Moody being th. last successful with a majority of 2213 over Mrs. M. M. Dreaver (L), sitting member, who headed the list of unsuccessful candidates. Two of the retiring members, Dr. Hilda M, Northcroft and Mr. R. J. Coates, headed the poll. Two Labour candidates unseated the two sitting members, Mr. J. H. Kinnear and Mr. E. H. Potter, Citizens' nominees, in the Mount Eden and neighdistrict constituency. In the North Shore area Mr. J. Guiniven retained his seat, and the sitting member for Waitemata, Mr. A. Bishop, won easily against four opponents. A new member in Dr. Selwvn Morris was elected for the One Tree Hill district. The^ sitting member for Franklin, Mr. G. T. Pa-rvin, was successful. There was no contest in the Manukau district, the sitting member, Mr. ¥. M. Tracer, being returned unopposed. Olliver, 89. Ohura: *N. J. B. Dougherty and C. E. Stewart (unopposed). TRANSPORT CONTROL CHANGES IN BOARD ONLY ONE LABOUR MEMBER Two of the sitting members of the Auckland Transport Board, Mrs. M. M. Dreaver and Mr. R. Armstrong, lost their seats in a poll which almost completely rejected the official Labour candidates. The only Labour member returned is Mr. L. C. McClintock, who held one of the two seats in the Oneiiunga and adjacent areas. In the city area all the six seats were secured by Citizen candidates and the lowest successful. Mr. A. A. Bodley, has a lead of 1498 over tire first unsuccessful candidate, Mrs. Dreaver. The two sitting members retained their seats in the i Mount Eden and adjoining boroughs constituency against challenges from two Labour nominees.
