ASSOCIATION GAMES Fast football was witnessed in the two games of the Auckland Football Association played at Blandford Park on Saturday afternoon under ideal conditions. Comrades and Mbunt Albert Grammar Old Boys opened play, the latter being ahead by the only goal scored at half-time. In the second spell Comrades equalised, and the final score of I—l was a good criterion of the general play. In the main attraction, between Suburbs and Metro-College, the latter's middle line, T. McLuckie, Phillips aud Wallace, wa6 quicker on recovery, and consequently King, in Suburbs' goal, had more to do than Gordon at the opposite end, and lie earned applause for clever and daring save<s. There was no score at half-time. In the second spell, the Suburbs players were unlucky to hit post and bar with powerful shots, while in the last 15 minutes Metro scored two good goals, to remain at the top of the table. Following were the scores and scorers:— First division: Metro-College, 2 (Phillips, Webber), Eastern Suburbs, 0; Comrades, 1 (McGee), Mount Albert- Grammar Old Boys, 1 (Wilkinson); North Shore, 6 (Richards 2, Blackip 2, Archibald and a defender), Air Force, '4 (Wellington Larnach); Naval Depot, 3 (McGliire, Selwood, Parrish), Ponsonby. 2 (Fussell, Grimmer). High scoring, hard hitting: and destructive I play featured the second series of senior matches olayed under the control of the Auckland Hockey Association on Saturday afternoon, at Papatoetoe, Sarawia Park and Walker Park. The main same at Walker Park resulted in a last-minute win for Whenuapai against Owai Rovers by the odd goal in nine. Owai Hovers quickly added three goals, but lost the initiative and Whenuapai rallied to even the score at half-time. In the second spell Whenuapai's half-line overshadowed the opposition and gave its forwards plenty of chance and two spectacular goals were scored from penalty comers. These corners were of pre-arranged movements, which were actually obtained bv the player taking the hit from the back line. This created some comment on the off-side rule. Following were the scores and scorers: —Whenuapai, 5 (P. Bade, '2, C. Shortt, 2, L. Watson), Owai Rovers, 4 (R. Baker); St. Luke's, 2 (F. Simpson, H.
