affiliation by clubs The necessity for all sporting clubs to affiliate with their respective provincial contro..ing bodies was stressed at the Council of ■-Port quarterly meeting, at which over •_'() sporting and recreational organisations were represented. In reviewing Ihe work of the founcil, the chairman, Mr. A. A. Baker, said tne Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. . ij rr}l stated that the Government would recognise only the National Council of aport when the allocation of recreational and sporting materials was made. The councils of sport, through the national body, had done good work in making possible the release of material for recreational pursuits. However, complaints were being received from groups while calling themselves clubs, had not taken the trouble to affiliate. When the Government called for an estimate of the material required to continue any activity, the only means of ascertaining the number of those P a J' lCi pating would be hy the controlling way forwarding such information compiled 'rom the ciijbs affiliated with it. This was the only sound merhod, and, while every endeavour oaa been, made to cater for the individual, ch ii as t owners Of private tennis courts, it Mould be apparent that the number of applications would be tremendous, and would need ctieckinpc. Affiliated clubs, which generally Tin] v i I r fee on membership, would {'3, Mister up their number, as there was a tendency io do on the part of non-affiliated rhe councils of sport were the medium 'i 0, eating material for schools competition, ana the education boards had the allocation ior recreational and physical education purposes.

It was agreed it. would be necessary as a «r measure for sports associations attached w schools tr/ affiliate with the controlling oflies. it was also recommended that the f , lnc| al controlling bodies admit the schools spo ™ "Odies at a nominal fee. ■t> Minister of Education, the Hon.
