Mr. C. W. R. Little, of Wellington, returned south on Monday. The Hon. R. Scrapie, Minister of Works, has returned to Wellington. Lieutenant-Colonel H. C. HempnfU, liaison officer between the Army ana the Maori war effort, left for the south on Monday. Mr. C. D. Mackintosh Gow, who has been secretary of Dalgety and Company, Limited, in London for the last 20 years, is retiring at the end of.this month. He will be succeeded by Mr, C. G. Hailam. Mr. G. S. Hunter, manager in East Africa, has been appointed London manager and will bo succeeded in East Africa by Mr. R. S Wollen. ROYAL BIRTHDAYS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Monday The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, has received from Princess Elizabeth the following reply to the message sent on the occasion of her birthday: "Most grateful for kind message you sent on my birthday on behalf of the Government and peoples of New Zealand, its island territories and Western Samoa. I deeply appreciate their kind thoughts.—Elizabeth." The 47th birthday of the Princess Royal, Princess - Mary, Countess of Harewood, only sister of the King, occurred yesterday. Princess Mary is the third child of King George V. and Queen Mary. She was married in February, 1922, to Viscount Lascelles, now sixth Earl of Harewood, and has two sons, the Hons. George and David Lascelles, who are aged 21 and 19. She is Chief Controller-Commandant of the Auxiliarv Territorial Service and Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Corps of Signals and the Royal Scots. MINISTER OF HEALTH VISIT TO NORTHLAND j (0.C.) DARGAVJLLE. Tuesday I The Minister ot Health, the Hon. A. ! H. Nordmever, arrived in Dargaville jon Monday afternoon and conferred with the chairman, Mr. W. Collins, and members of the Kaipara Hospital Board. The discussion was taken in committee and at the conclusion of the meeting the Minister inspected the 40acre site of the new hospital which it is proposed to erect in Dargaville. An application is now before _ the Loans Board for authority to raise £30,000 with which to build the hospital. At the conclusion of his visit th« i Minister stated that he is conferring . | with the members of all the hospital boards in North Auckland and will release a statement for publication at the conclusion of the final conference, which will be held in Whaiigarei oil Friday morning. The Minister, who is accompanied by Dr. M. H. Watt, Director-General of 1 Health, and Mr. A. von Keisenberg, Secretary of Health, left for Rawene I this morning. OBITUARY i MRS. C. G. TISDALL ! Tisdall, one-time principal • of St. John's College and vicar of Rotorua and Ellerslie. Mrs. Tisdall was ' a daughter of the late Mr. Barton Ire- ! land, who was one of the leaders of the business community in Auckland II about three-quarters of a century ago. 1 i M rs. The only son of ; the late .Mr. David Stewart, a pioneer master builder who erected many of the larger public buildings at Inver- ■ cargill. .Mr. Stewart, who was born in Scotland, came to the Dominion as a boy and worked in Southland and in the Wakatipu districts. He joined the R.N.Z.A.F. in | 1941 and is now on operations as the ! pilot of a bomber. LATE MR. GREY CAMPBELL Tributes to the late Mr. George Grev Campbell were paid nt- a service bm in the Beresford Street Congregations' ■' Church yesterday, before the burial | at Hillsborough Cemetery. The service I was conducted by the Rev. Clifford h. I Welch, assisted by the Rev. J. v. i Mackv, who gave the funeral oration, ! and the Rev. Mr. King, an American chaplain. The church was full, there being a large number of representatives ex different civic, educational and sporting bodies with which the late Mr. Campbell was connected.
