WIDER SYLLABUS
All! TRAINING SCHEME TRAVELLING LECTURE ROOMS A new system of instruction "which has been adopted by the Air Training Corps throughout New Zealand introduces more variety to the cadets training. The enlarged syllabus—already in operation—provides for tuition in small arms, the Browning gun, the Sten carbine, the .38 revolver, the Swift training rifle, range , orders, pyrotechnics, hand grenades, clay target shooting, camera guns, aero engines, aircraft recognition, airmanship, fieldcraft, signals, air-frames, organisation and administration, drill and discipline, the compass, anti-gas measures, and the theories of flight, bombing and sighting. New equipment has been provided and difficulties which previously him tedl instruction to drill a-nd weapon 11 dining have been removed. To enableinitsin country districts to keep up with those in the' cities, travelling lecture rooms have been built. These vehicles, equipped with everything needed loi instruction on any one ot the subjects in the now syllabus, will make a regular series of visits each week I om the main centres to the outlying Countrv units will thus be enabh d to gain practical experience. Instructors ot North Island Air Training Corps wings have completed their courses of tuition, and satisfactory results from the new syllabus have already been reported. Courses or South Island instructors wit hi n a few days. Many of the instructors have gained experience under actual service conditions overseas ot the s> frets on ,rtirh bo Bv giving equal training facilities to cadets in the country districts, it s considered that a more uniform standard can be attained. The gear and equipment for the travelling lecture rooms is on a comprehensive scale, the instructors are enthusiastic m their 30b, and the corps headquarters is looking for good results as the scheme develops.
