NEW ZEALAND TROOPS SPEARHEAD OF ASSAULT FIERCE FIGHTING OCCURS (Reed. 10.30 p.m.) . LONDON, March 17 New Zealand troops with the I'ittli Anny have been the spearhead of the assault on Cassino, Italy. They fought their way through the town to positions on the outskirts. New Zealand and Indian troops have taken a prominent part in the whole action and have held the advantage in spite of stern German defence. They have taken heights overlooking the town in face of fierce opposition. CHARGE OF MURDER HUSBAND REFORE COURT REMAND FOR ONE WEEK Following the death of Patricia Florence Havvorth, aged 28, shortly after she was found with her head battered at her home in Otahuhu the previous day, her husband, Thomas RhihP Maworth, a cliromo tanner, aged 32, was charged with murdering her, when lie was brought before Mr. J.,H. Luxford, S.M., yesterday. Detective-Sergeant Trethewey said accused had been arrested only the previous afternoon by Detective-Sergeant Aplin and Detective McLean, .and the police requested a remand until March 24. Mr. Terry, who appeared for accused, offered no objection, and the remand was granted. An inquest into Mrs. Haworths death was opened before Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., 'yesterday. After formal evidence of identification was taken it was adjourned sine die.
