: AUCKLAND EXCHANGE r __ A BUOYANT MARKET Attracted by higher oii'ers, sellers 1 came forward more freely on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. A substantial turnover was recorded, with • sales covering a wide range, and late ' values easily maintained and occasiouI ally exceeded. In. the banking section - further gains were made by New Zealands and Commercials, while buyers raised their offers for several other issues. Insurances were fairly active .jand South British, sold .'3d dearer. • Among Australian leaders A.C.l.'s rose sharply to 57s and British Tobaccos . were quoted higher. WESTFIELD .SALES BEEF PRICES UNCHANGED The demand was steady for an average yarding of beef at the fat stock sales at Westfield yesterday and most prices remained the same as those obtained last week. Calves came forward in greatly increased numbers and values fell. Plain and unfinished sorts were not wanted. Prices rose slightly for sheep, penned in average numbers, while lambs sold at late quotations. All classes of pigs found ready buyers at recent values. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Dalgety and Company and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency report:— Beef.—An average yarding of beef met a steady demand, with little or no alteration in values.
